GEO and AI search optimization

GEO agency: get your store cited by AI

We make sure AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT and Perplexity can find, understand and cite your categories and products. No hacks: we start from what Google and OpenAI document, and we measure citations page by page.

What GEO is, in practice

Google’s AI answers don’t have a separate index: they retrieve pages from the Search index using the normal ranking systems, then summarize them and cite them as sources. That’s why Google itself says optimizing for AI is still SEO.

The difference is “query fan-out”: one question is split into many related searches, and the answer draws on all of them. A store gets cited when its pages clearly answer those searches, not just the main keyword.

Where your store can appear

Each system has its own access rules. We check them one by one.

AI Overviews e AI Mode

The page must be indexed and snippet-eligible, and the site included in generative AI features in Search Console.

ChatGPT

The OAI-SearchBot crawler must be able to access the site. GPTBot is for training and is a separate choice.

Perplexity

The PerplexityBot crawler must be able to access the site, with no blocks in robots.txt or the firewall.

Product listings in answers

Merchant Center product data consistent with your site: price, availability, variants.

What we check

Eight points, in this order. The first four decide whether you can be cited; the rest whether you get picked.

1. Crawler access

robots.txt and firewall rules for Googlebot, OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot. Allowing training or not is your choice, separate from visibility.

2. Search Console setting

The site must be included in Search’s generative AI features.

3. Indexing and snippets

Pages indexed, with no nosnippet or snippet limits that exclude them.

4. Readable text

The information that matters is in the page text, not only in images, PDFs or content loaded later.

5. Answers to related questions

Real questions tied to a category are answered on the category itself: capacity, materials, differences, who it’s for.

6. Verifiable facts

Shipping, returns, warranties and specs stated explicitly: AI cites what it can verify.

7. Consistent product data

Price and availability match across the page, structured data and Merchant Center.

8. What’s said about you elsewhere

Reviews, forums and articles that AI answers draw on. We read and track them; fake mentions don’t help.

No extra pages “for AI”

Creating a page for every question variant breaks Google’s scaled content rules. Answers belong on the pages that already exist and sell.

What we don’t do, and why

Much GEO advice has no basis. We rule these out because Google explicitly lists them as unnecessary in its guide to optimizing for generative AI.

  • llms.txt files: Google Search doesn’t use them
  • Chopping copy into small chunks “for AI”
  • Rewriting pages in an “AI style”
  • Chasing inauthentic mentions across the web
  • Special schema markup for AI: there isn’t any

How we measure

Three sources, read together every month. None is enough on its own: Search Console gives no clicks or queries, and AI answers change from one run to the next.

Sample data. Search Console’s generative AI report shows impressions by page, country and device, with no clicks or queries.

How we work

Our process, month by month

GEO is done on the same pages as SEO, with the same method and checks.

  1. Step 1

    Technical check

Crawlers, robots.txt, firewall, Search Console and Merchant Center settings.

  2. Step 2

    Control questions

A fixed list of real questions per category, from Search Console queries and customer requests.

  3. Step 3

    Pages and facts

Answers and verifiable facts on the categories and products that matter, approved before they go live.

  4. Step 4

    Measurement

AI impressions per page, visits from assistants and citations on the control questions, month over month.

GEO and AI search FAQs

The questions we hear most.

What’s the difference between GEO and SEO?

For Google, none: AI answers come from the Search index and ranking systems. What changes is what we measure and how much the questions around each category matter.

Do I need an llms.txt file?

No. Google Search doesn’t use it and says it neither helps nor hurts visibility. Keep it if another service needs it, but it isn’t part of the work.

Can I stay visible in ChatGPT without letting my content be used for training?

Yes. OpenAI uses two separate crawlers: OAI-SearchBot for search and GPTBot for training. You can allow the first and block the second.

Can you guarantee my store will be cited?

No. Nobody has access to Google’s or OpenAI’s internal systems. We check the requirements, work on the pages and track citations on the same questions every month.

How do you measure visibility in AI answers?

With Search Console’s generative AI report (impressions per page), visits from chatgpt.com and perplexity.ai in GA4, and a fixed list of control questions.

How much does it cost?

GEO is included with SEO in the Organic package, from 600€ a month, and in the Store Manager and Performance packages. Details on our Pricing page.

Does your store show up in AI answers?

We’ll show you which questions you’re cited for today, which you aren’t, and what’s in the way.
