# Ecommerce SEO agency

We work on category and brand pages, using your Search Console data and your competitors’ actual pages. Every page goes through eight checks before a single line is written, and a person approves every proposal.

## Which pages we work on

Category and brand pages. They answer commercial searches such as “hiking backpacks” or “women’s running shoes”, and they bring in most of an online store’s organic clicks.

Internal links come before copy. In the historical data of the stores we have analyzed, no category without inbound internal links ever received a single impression: to Google, a page your own site doesn’t link to barely exists.

- Categories and subcategories
- Brand pages
- Product pages: shared rules for titles, attributes and duplicates

## A page’s path

Every page goes through eight checks in a row. Four of them can stop it. Stopping is a result: we don’t write or spend on a search that can’t be won.

## How we identify which pages come first

Search Console gives us impressions, clicks and average position for every page. Only pages with at least one impression make the list: a page Google has never shown has a different problem, and we treat it separately.

For each page we calculate how many clicks it would get at the CTR your own site achieves in that position band, and how much work it needs compared with pages of the same type. The ratio between the two is the priority.

- Lots of impressions, few clicks: fix the title, not the position
- What we can’t measure we say so; we don’t count it as zero
- The calculation suggests; we choose the final list together

## Keywords: real searches only

Keywords come from the searches Search Console records for your site. Keywords pulled from page copy are often not searches at all: split brand names, phrases from legal pages, bits of slogans. We discard them before paying to measure their volume.

Each search goes to one page only. If it names a brand, it can only go to a page for that brand. When two pages compete for it, volume decides first, then a person, and a manual choice is never overwritten by later recalculations.

The main search goes in the title, H1 and first 100 words; variants go in H2s and body copy. We don’t chase the biggest search in the market, but the one with the widest gap between what the page gets and what it could get.

## Before writing: SERP triage

We read the top ten results for the main search and assess whether it can be won. We rule it out in three cases.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/remove.svg)

### Occupation

Marketplaces, big chains and comparison sites hold most positions: a store your size won’t get in.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/remove.svg)

### Different intent or audience

The SERP answers a different question or audience. Example: a men’s category on a search where eight results out of ten are for women. We don’t write; we refocus.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/remove.svg)

### Brand search

It’s another brand’s name and that brand’s site holds the top spots.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/checkmark-green.svg)

### If it passes: we read the competitors

We open full pages, not snippets, and separate copy written to be read from price lists, spec sheets and boilerplate.

### Stopping is a result

On an excluded search we don’t write and don’t spend. We propose what to do instead: usually a different search that matches what the page sells.

## What we propose for each page

After the competitor comparison, each page gets one of four proposals. None goes ahead without a person’s approval.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/optimisation-1.svg)

### Optimize

The search is right and winnable: title, H1, copy and internal links get reworked.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/search.svg)

### Refocus

The page targets a search it can’t win or that doesn’t fit it: we assign the right one.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/integration.svg)

### Merge

Two pages answer the same search: one stays, the other points to it.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/controllo.svg)

### Exclude from SEO

The page serves navigation or campaigns but has no search demand: no time is spent on it.

## Checks before delivery

Every piece of copy goes through automated checks and a review. We block:

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/checkmark-green.svg)

### Numbers without a source

Every figure must come from the store’s data. If it’s missing, we say it’s missing.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/checkmark-green.svg)

### Unverified promises

Shipping, returns, prices and warranties only when the store’s terms confirm them.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/checkmark-green.svg)

### Copied sentences

No sentence may share five consecutive words with a competitor.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/checkmark-green.svg)

### Made-up links

Only URLs that exist: a made-up link is a 404 on your site.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/checkmark-green.svg)

### Made-up questions

FAQs come from the real questions that appear in the SERP.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/checkmark-green.svg)

### Severity review

Issues are rated high, medium or low, with a before and after for the serious ones.

### Everything can be inspected

For every proposal you see the input data, the method and the output. Copy only goes through when a person approves it.

How we work

## Our process, month by month

One point of contact, a monthly call and a monthly PDF report.

[Contact us](https://tebs.co/contact?hsLang=en)

1. ![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/analysi.svg)Step 1

   ### Access and site census

Search Console, GA4 and Merchant Center. A crawl of the site, a census of categories and brand pages with their internal links, baseline KPIs.
2. ![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/leaderboard.svg)Step 2

   ### Working list

The calculation suggests the pages with the most recoverable clicks; we pick the list together on the monthly call.
3. ![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/copywriting.svg)Step 3

   ### Proposals and approval

For each page: triage, competitor comparison, proposal and copy. You approve before anything reaches the site.
4. ![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/chart-linear.svg)Step 4

   ### Measurement

Equal-length periods and criteria set before we look at the data. We record how each page entered the list, to check whether the calculation gets it right.

## How we diagnose a traffic drop

A traffic drop almost always has more than one cause. We separate them with data, in this order.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/analysi.svg)

### 1. Equal periods, by page type

Two equal-length periods for categories, products, brands and content pages. If they all drop evenly, the issue is site-wide.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/carbon_data-1.svg)

### 2. When it started

We date the change from Search Console and page history, and compare it with Google’s updates.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/controllo.svg)

### 3. Causes ruled out, with evidence

Manual actions, security, blocked Googlebot, noindex and redirects, Merchant Center: each one is ruled out with data.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/search.svg)

### 4. Demand and AI Overviews

We separate falling market demand and the effect of AI answers from the site’s own decline.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/leaderboard.svg)

### 5. Weight of each cause

Each cause gets an estimated weight, stated as an estimate.

![](https://tebs.co/hubfs/Tebs%20Website/Icons/chart-linear.svg)

### 6. Pilot and check

The fix starts on a single group of pages for 4-8 weeks, with the metric set in advance. If nothing moves, the diagnosis gets revised.

## Shopify SEO, Magento and multichannel platforms

These are the platforms we work on. For each one we know which points to check first.

### Shopify

Fixed URL structure (/collections/, /products/), products reachable through collection paths, filters that generate parameters, apps that slow down loading.

### Multichannel platforms

Large catalogs connected to eBay and Amazon: categories to align with real searches, products leaving the catalog, product pages from the same manufacturer to set apart.

### Magento

Layered navigation that multiplies URLs, category paths in product URLs, multi-store setups by language and country.

## What we measure

We don’t promise rankings: Google decides those. We measure page by page, against criteria set in advance.

- Impressions, clicks and average position for every page on the list
- The page’s CTR against your site’s CTR in the same position band
- Equal-length periods, before and after each change
- Orders and revenue from organic traffic in GA4
- Every number with its denominator and its limits

## Ecommerce SEO FAQs

The questions we hear before we start.

How much does ecommerce SEO cost?

The Organic package (SEO and GEO) starts at 600€ a month, with 5 pages optimized a month; for more pages the fee goes up accordingly. SEO and GEO are also part of the Store Manager and Performance packages. Details on our [Pricing](https://tebs.co/pricing?hsLang=en) page.

How long does SEO take for an online store?

Google picks up technical fixes within a few weeks; changes to category and brand pages usually take a few months. Every change has its own metric and review window, set before we start.

Do you work on product pages too?

We focus on category and brand pages, where commercial searches happen. For product pages we set shared rules for titles, attributes and duplicates, and work on a single product page only when it has search demand of its own.

Does more copy help a page rank?

Not on its own. In the SERPs we analyze, copy is rarely what separates winners from losers: the right search, internal links and a page that matches intent matter more. That’s why copy comes after triage.

Which platforms do you work on?

Shopify, Magento and multichannel platforms connected to marketplaces. We write technical requirements for the platform you use.

What happens to out-of-stock and discontinued products?

A product that is briefly out of stock stays reachable, with updated availability and visible alternatives. A discontinued product points to the closest page or, if there is none, responds as removed.

How do you handle a site migration or replatforming?

Before launch we map every current URL and prepare the redirect plan. After launch we check errors, indexing and traffic by page type.

Does SEO still matter with Google AI Overviews?

Yes. AI Overviews and assistants like ChatGPT and Perplexity cite clear, specific pages, and shoppers still click through to categories and products. See our [GEO](https://tebs.co/services/geo?hsLang=en) page.

What do I get each month?

A PDF report: pages worked on, approved proposals, before-and-after data and next month’s priority list.
